Run it. Do it. Get it done. Fix it. Make it happen. Move out.
How are you supposed to create joy in your business or work when you have all these things to do?
All of these actions are common statements made by management when operating a business. They can be checklist items that need completion, either for the worker-bee or the COO.
They are the same tasks day-in and day-out. They are also used for new tasks to get us towards a new goal.
How are we finding Joy in our business and outside of work in our life?
How are we looking at these tasks?
Are they part of a more significant project, a campaign?
How well do they provide an opportunity once completed to provide SATISFACTION?
Satisfaction in a job well done.
It’s great to be satisfied with a task completed, even if it is just checking off a box on a 25-items list for completion that day. It’s even likely we’ll feel more satisfied when it’s completing an immense task or signing a lucrative deal, or hitting our quarterly revenue numbers.
Here’s the thing.… Are we reflecting on what we got done?
In the seven levels of energy leadership, task completion can fit into Level 3 where we just power through those 25 items to get them done. If we work with a C-Suite management team to close a big deal and each person contributes significantly, it fits in the more positive Level 5 collaborative energy.
Yet, when we reflect on what we’ve accomplished, we create an opening for appreciation and gratitude, no matter how small. Appreciation and gratitude for the task performed affect the biochemistry of our bodies. Our bodies produce chemicals that create a natural high.
When we are grateful more consistently, we move up our energy level to level 6, where we are expressing joy, happiness, and delight. That is the stoke. It’s a mental and resultant physical change in our state of being.
Even more remarkable is that when we are in level 6 more often, we begin to understand completely how our business interconnects. We see how the parts of a company come together as a whole. We then see opportunities for optimization. We are coming from an inspired viewpoint and see things we wouldn’t have seen before if we were still in level 3, just checking off the box and moving on.
So, work to appreciate and be grateful for completing your individual items, group projects, and newly inked deals. It’s good for business growth, and it’s good for your health. We get excited and begin to live it more and more. It's called the stoke of business.
